Twlight is usable in demo version just fine, the the learning curve is not steep. I don't think you are going to get that, quite a few of the limitations are SU related. atleast twice the render speeds(GPU support etc) A better, more integrated and quicker to use interfaceĢ. If you are going to invest 7x the twilight price I'd want:ġ. You could use Kirkythea which will give you the same engine and a little more control than twilight and it's free but time is money and not only learning kirkythea but also using it takes more time so the twilight investment was good.
There are a few renderers out there that give great results but not all are as easy to work with as twilight. That said, while I have seen the gallery, I haven't seen the interface connectivity to SU. If you are using 3ds then I guess that price, (what is it now? US$700+) seems reasonable as 3ds costs 4 grand. For the vray price I was hoping it would come with the plugins for blender and everything else but all you get is the SU bit so I didn't bother.
